This chopped Italian sandwich is super easy to make and really tasty. No wonder it has gone viral all over social media. For this recipe all of the ingredients for the sandwich (Deli meats, cheese, lettuce, banana peppers, oil, vinegar, etc) will be put onto a cutting board, chopped up and mixed together. Ingredients you need for this sandwich

The great thing about this sandwich or really any, is that fact you can customize it to your own liking. So if you want to add or take away anything, thats totally fine!

The cold cuts: Pepperoni, salami and ham.

The cheese: Provolone cheese

The veggies: Sliced red onion, pepperoncini peppers, iceberg lettuce, and tomatoes.

The flavor: Mayonnaise, olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, pepper, and dried Italian seasoning.

The bread: I used hoagie rolls I bought from the bakery. Use your favorite Italian bread or whatever you prefer.

Meats, cheese and veggies for an Italian sandwich

Making the chopped Italian sandwich

First shred some lettuce and add that to the bottom of your cutting board as the base.

Shredded lettuce

Next add pepperoni, salami, ham, provolone cheese, red onions, pepperoncini peppers and sliced tomatoes. Just pile everything on top of each other.

Next take a sharp knife and chop everything up really well and make sure it’s all mixed together. This is the fun part. Just feel that stress melt away as you chop!

At this point, add mayonnaise, olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, black pepper and Italian seasoning. Then continue to chop again and mix together so everything is incorporated.

Now all there’s left to do is scoop up a heaping pile of this chopped goodness and pile it into toasted hoagie rolls. You get a little bit of everything with each bite and it is so good! Make these in a few minutes and serve right away, or even ahead of time if you need.

When I first posted this recipe on Tik tok a lot of people mentioned it reminded them of hoagie dip. You could absolutely place these ingredients in a large bowl and spread onto toasted baguettes like a dip.

Try these variations:

Feel free to use different ingredients to customize this recipe. That’s the beauty of this sandwich. You can make it however you’d like.

Breads: Try it on sour dough, French bread, or Italian sub rolls.

Meats: If you don’t like any of the cold cuts try roast beef, turkey, or pastrami to mix it up a bit.

Cheeses: Swiss, havarti, and mozzarella are great options here.
